Spring’s Display

   SEASONAL PROMISE

When stately tulips open up

And I see sunshine in their cup

I know that summer’s on the way

Promised then by spring’s display

     A SEASON EXPLODING IN BEAUTY

Spring, painting

the landscape in flamboyant colors.

Intoxicating the air

with her wafting perfumes.

Larks flute golden love songs,

while feathered architects

are busily constructing

air-conditioned nurseries.

Wild life, is house-hunting

diligently among fresh emerald leaves,

staking claims to new summer homes,

that are hidden from view

Streams, gurgle in  happiness,

as they free themselves

of winter’s icy neckwear,

splashing playfully over the rocks,

offering liquid melody for spring’s welcome.

Tulips stretch long slender necks,

lifting faces for the sun’s warm kiss.

Thousands of buds unclench tiny fists

with bursts of beautiful blossoms.

Spring, a season exploding in beauty.
