A deep Abiding love

A MOMENT LONG AWAITED

He came to me last night
to tell me he was sorry.
As he held me close
he kissed away my tears,
and I could feel his heart
beating in harmony with my own.
He whispered assurances
of undying love,
and I whispered mine.
Then from out of nowhere
came the soft strains
of our favorite song,
and we danced as one,
lost in deep abiding love;
a moment long awaited.

 And then . . . I awakened.

AS THE LAST PAGE WAS TURNED

It was many long years ago

That Dan and Irma met.

They felt a kinship from the start —

From that, a pattern set.

He loved her quiet demure ways

And her mass of golden hair.

She loved the way he whistled songs,

And followed him everywhere.

Dan taught her how to fish and swim,

In Crazy Woman Creek,

Where they wiled away summer days

Several times a week.

They wed when friendship turned to love.

And raised a family.

Their love remained throughout the years,

Enriched by harmony.

When her golden hair turned silver,

And he was bent with age,

He’d tell everyone their story had

Just turned another page.

Then, well into those aging years

Her memory disappeared.

Soon Irma moved to Nursing Care,

The thing that Dan most feared.

He went to see her every day,

Though she knew him not at all.

He’d whistle softly as she smiled —

He hoped it meant recall.

But that silken thread from the past,

Was the only memory had.

When others pointed that fact out,

His countenance was sad.

When someone  said, “She knows you not.”,

His eyes were quick to blur.

Then brushing away a tear, he’d say,

“But I remember her.

Then one day, the two were found,

Just as they had yearned.

They joined each other for the end.

As the last page was turned.

ONCE IN EVERY LIFETIME

Just once in every lifetime
Someone comes along
And hearts then blend in harmony
With words to love’s sweet song

Just once in every lifetime
Two hearts fill special roles
And fall in love from the start
As destined kindred souls

Just once in every lifetime
A union’s meant to be
When those hearts join and beat as one
For all eternity

If I could make the world a poem

There’d be a verse called Peace

And all the hate that’s in the world

Would fade away and cease

And wouldn’t it be wonderful

To have a verse called Share

No hunger, thirst, or suffering

For those in need to bear

If I could make the world a poem

There’d be a verse called Smiles

You’d see no frowns or furrowed brows

For endless happy miles

And wouldn’t everyone approve

To have a verse called Love

For family, friends, and everyone

With blessings from above

If I could make the world a poem

There’d be a verse on Joy

With happiness for young and old

And every girl and boy

The world could be just like a poem

If we could all agree

To unify such attributes

And live in harmony
